Home to New Zealand's tallest mountain and longest glacier, Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park offers some of the most accessible yet dramatic alpine walking tracks in the Southern Hemisphere.

1. Hooker Valley Track (10 km / 3 hours)

The undisputed king of day walks. Flat boardwalks wind through alpine meadows and cross three swing bridges before reaching Hooker Lake, where icebergs float under the shadow of Aoraki.

2. Sealy Tarns Track (5.8 km / 3-4 hours)

Known as the 'Stairway to Heaven', this trail consists of 2,200 steep wooden steps climbing up to alpine tarns reflecting Mount Cook. Outstanding views for fit hikers!

3. Tasman Glacier View Track (1 km / 1 hour)

A short uphill walk past blue lakes to an overlook of New Zealand's largest glacier and terminal lake.
